Chrysler

Chrysler, aka Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA US LLC), is one of the most recognizable brands in the world. Its luxury vehicles have been a common name in every other American family since 1925. Of course, Chrysler-labeled cars are familiar to people far beyond the homeland; although, their primary target audience is well-to-do people who value comfort, performance and individuality.

Corporate Overview

Chrysler is a division of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, headquartered from Michigan, USA. Large volume of production and sales has brought the company a place in ‘The Big Three’ American car makers. Nowadays it offers vehicles as under a flagship Chrysler brand, so under Jeep, Dodge and Ram marques. In addition, it owns Mopar – an integral automotive parts & accessories arm.

Since origins days, Chrysler has been a standalone unit. Nonetheless, throughout its history it has entered into alliances or mergers with different automakers with the purpose to improve its technologies or boost popularity.

The final most significant legal transaction took place in 2014 when Fiat S.p.A announced the acquirement of Chrysler. The move was attributable to the monetary troubles which had overtaken the company in 2009 (due to the global crisis). It had to file for bankruptcy that resulted in defaulting on $4 billion in debt obligations. In order to keep an eminent player in the US automotive industry afloat, Fiat decided to buy Chrysler shares from other parties; this way in 2014 a new subsidiary of Fiat group was born.

Before this merger Chrysler was a subsidiary of Daimler-Benz AG conglomerate. However, due to issues with investors, a German guru decided to sell an American division to Cerberus Capital Management in 2007.

In 1985 a luxury brand acquired a 47% stake in American Motors Corporation from Renault. This merger targeted the production of rear-drive vehicles based on Chrysler M platform as well as Dodge Omnis front-drive units.

Iconic Cars

You can hardly name a car model fabricated by Chrysler that wouldn’t become iconic. According to general critical viewpoints, each and every solution is a balance of style and performance, flavored with a touch of magnificence. Chrysler’s history of success is rich in such familiar designs as 300, Plymouth, New Yorker, DeSoto, Imperial, Cordoba, and Town & Country.

Town & Country minivans have rendered obedience to millions of families worldwide for more than 60 years. They are focused on safety, performance and comfortable interior layout – the things families on the go wish for. Besides, present-day design of minivans has been developed on the customers’ feedback as well as findings of the company’s engineering team.

Released in the 1970s, Cordoba model has been labeled as a new small luxury car. This coupe with Jaguar-like front-end, purely leather interior and state-of-the-art rectangular taillampshas has become one of the most memorable vehicles in the XXth century. Moreover, this model is the most best-selling car in the company’s lineup with total sales volume larger than all other models’ sales combined.

To continue, apart from the luxury market, Chrysler was successful in entry-level and medium-price segments. Its Plymouth vehicles have become a treat for customers on budget, while DeSoto cars have served the needs of customers with average incomes.

Chrysler 300 of 1955 is also worth of our attention. This vehicle was a combination of smooth styling and ‘muscle-like’ performance. It quickly became a legend among drive and race devotees, demonstrating up to 143 mph speed – an erstwhile record on and off the track. In early 2000s the brand updated the 300 by 300C model that turned out to be a new icon of American design.
