The class of super-mini vehicles was invented to efficiently manage violent in-city traffic. Peugeot has made headway in this matter. Peugeot 106 has been in production from 1991 to 2003. Initially, it was available as a 3-door 5-seater mini-car, but later on the main body type featured 5 doors. Thanks to the small-sized dimensions (3564x1560x1369 mm – l/w/h), the model has become the best choice for routine city rides.

At the beginning, the base mini-car version came equipped with a gasoline 1.0-liter engine rated at 50 horsepower only. It was paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. However, in 1992 Peugeot began enlarging the model line with more powerful engine modifications (both gasoline and diesel options were available), adding a 3-speed automatic transmission.

Thus, the XR 1.1 modification boasted the implementation of power-saving technologies which made it the most efficient model in the production line.
